The Man.......

The sport of triathlon was born in the USA but by the end of the 1980’s this new multisport craze started grounding roots globally. In 1987 the first unofficial World Triathlon championships was held in Australia and was won by Kiwi legend Rick Wells.

Rick Wells was known as an incredible talent and one of the toughest racers competing. His swim was powerful and he rode the bike very strongly. Rick was one of the first truly complete multi-sport athletes.

Since his first world title Rick has had a string of race successes including 2nd place 1991 World Champs, Commonwealth Games wins and 3rd place in the 2010 Nationals to name a few.

Rick now works in Auckland coaching other athletes to their golds! Rick also competes regularly in Surf Boat races and has now set his sights on the 2012 Triathlon title.
